Biography
Hill was one of the Child Migrants from the UK to Australia on the Fairbairn Scheme, shipped without his parents' consent or knowledge, when he was 12.
He started his career as a government adviser in 1976, and in 1980 became chief executive of the New South Wales State Rail Authority. In a business career marked by considerable controversy, he has also been chairman of the Australian Broadcasting Corporation, head of Soccer Australia, and head of Sydney Water, and a director of the Australian National Airlines Commission, and the NSW State Rail Authority again.
