About Croatia

The lands that today comprise Croatia were part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire until the close of World War I. In 1918, the Croats, Serbs, and Slovenes formed a kingdom known after 1929 as Yugoslavia. Following World War II, Yugoslavia became a federal independent communist state under the strong hand of Marshal TITO. To learn more please read About Croatia.

Hague Convention Information

Croatia is not party to the Hague Convention on Protection of Children and Co-operation in Respect of Intercountry Adoption (the Hague Adoption Convention). Intercountry adoptions of children from non-Hague countries are processed in accordance with [https://www.uscis.gov/laws-and-policy/regulations 8 Code of Federal Regulations, Section 204.3] as it relates to orphans as defined under the Immigration and Nationality Act, Section 101(b)(1)(F).
