I cam across your post on June 30, 2007, in reference to your suggestion of contacting some adoption medicine doctors, specifically you stated, "I can PM you with some names if you need them. At least one has a child from Vietnam and, as a result, a particular interest in that country".

You seem very knowledgable on the adoption process and I wonder if I may consult you on my case.

I am South African and my husband is Chinese. We live in China and would like to adopt from any country. Unfortunately however, we have been told that we cannot adopt from China as South Africans cannot adopt Chinese babies. Furthermore, as an expat living abroad, it seems quite difficult to find any international adoption agency that can work with a family like ours.

I am at quite a loss and have no idea how to proceed :(

I have some questions about a specific case and looking for specific answers and guidance. Thank you!

I am a US citizen currently residing in the US. I have a 13 year old sister, who is not a US citizen nor a permanent resident, that I would like to adopt here in the US.

She is living in the US with me currently, she is on a B1 type visa. I'm her older brother and legal guardian back home (I have guardianship and power of attorney documents). We are originally from the middle east, so by law adoption is not allowed legally but guardianship is.

Is there any way that I can pursue her adoption legally here in the US? And where would that put her visitor status, do I need to file any work with immigration?

I would appreciate any insight on how to handle this. Please be as detailed as you possible about the adoption process requirements and immigration obstacles.

Not sure if adoption has any requirements of the person adopting but a bit about myself:

I have been married for 5 years with no children, and I make enough living to support more dependents and handle any financial expenses associated with the adoption process.

Hi Sak9645 <br />I notice you are very knowledgeable on the adoption process and I have a question I hope you can help me with. I am awaiting the final stage i600 approval and embassy interview so I wanted to know about the re-adoption process <br />I will need to re adopt the children when they come to the USA as I was granted a license . I want to do this on my own as I have spent over 12k on this process already and sad to say it has all been on the US side. I believe that I can do the re-adoption myself (New York) but the agency advised me that its best to get an attorney which means another 1500 or so to shell out <br />I am tired of paying everyone but I end up doing 90% of the work. <br />so please can you let me know the steps for re-adoption in NY? <br />I tried to get the forms online (Petiton for adoption etc ) but not sure if I am in the right direction<br />thanks you so much
