Two and a half years ago my husband and I brought home a
five year old girl from Riga, Latvia. We brought her to the states for medical reasons, then we decided to adopt her after she was with us. This isn't a method I would ever recomend, it's like working backward, but our daughter would never have been able to be adopted out of Latvia any other way.
So while I can't offer any help on the waiting part, I can tell you that Latvian girls are beautiful and precious.

Would any of your friends know about orphanages in Riga, or close to Riga (i.e. names, how many children)? We will be traveling to Latvia next month and would like to visit some.
