You'll both be asked to speak with a social worker individually, probably in their office. They'll ask questions about your family history, etc. Then they come out and visit you in your home, primarily to verify that it's safe, has enough room for a child, not in a crime infested neighborhood, etc.
Do make sure you have smoke detectors on each floor and that they work. Also make sure your kitchen fire extinguisher is good. We scrubbed our house to within an inch of antiseptic and the SW thought that was funny. You don't need to have a nursery set up or anything like that, just show that you have the room.
HTH, hang in there. homestudies aren't as bad as we imagine. Just remember to be honest and forthright with your SW.
