Coming up on 19 yrs marriage in Feb and we have a biological 3rd grader. Seriously looking into Int'l adoption. Reading the forums and steps and think it's impossible and we'd be denied.
Husband was 22 (turns 42 in Dec) living in CA and arrested. Misdemeanor. Charge:inflict injury upon child. Spanked live-in girlfriends son. (per workers notes, rough-housing, child too rough and husband retaliated too hard). He and the girlfriend went to counseling w/Soc.Svcs. Practitioner for the County's Human Services Agency. Worker recommended dismiss w/o prejudice. Charge later dismissed.
In our state (OK) husband went on to do reserve police officer work. No problems. Fingerprinted for a firearm purchase request and Ntnl Instant Criminal Background Check System (NCIS) came back w/above. Had to appeal and the DOJ FBI analyst got the paperwork approved for firearm purchase.
I thought with the dismissed charge, that was the end of things. But now wanting to adopt, with the HomeStudy and all the other checks, is this going to be a request denied? Would this decision be based on the HomeStudy worker or is it a US Govt denial? Should I stop now before even choosing an agency and getting a homestudy scheduled?
