I have a quick question for you all. My husband and I would like to widen the age range of our child that we want to adopt. If we do that we will need to redo some of our paperwork (i believe) the paper that you send to the DNA spelling out what you are hoping for. If we do that does anyone know if we will be starting over in the process. I mean that paperwork would have to be translated and than resubmitted so does it replace our existing file or will it go back to the beginning. I haven't even spoke with our agency about it my husband and I were just talking about it tonight. I couldn't wait till Monday to get a reply, so I thought someone on the forum would know:)
Thanks

Tanya,
You should NOT have to redo your dossier just to "amend" one document.
In fact, your agency's attorney has "power of attorney" for you (as long as you signed a document agreeing to this), so he/she can probably amend that particular document FOR YOU, stating your updated age range preferences.
Remember that "power of attorney" means that you give the attorney access to all documents and to make decisions for you in your absence. This would likely include stretching out the age range a bit.
;-)
Plus, this will save you time and money (no authentications, translations, etc.)!

OOPS---one catch...If your homestudy approved you for a smaller age range, you will need to have IT updated to include the larger age range and mailed to the BCIS office in Panama, or BCIS will give you heck when you try to leave the country with an older child than you were originally approved to adopt!
