We are stationed in Ohio for 15 months then we will be moving to California. We would like to complete our homestudy while in Ohio. Do you know if homestudies are accepted by every state even if it wasn't done in that state or will we have to start all over.
The homestudy is a study of your family and your *home*. If you move after the homestudy is complete it will need to be redone. Sometimes you can simply get an addendum done that covers the new home, other times you have to get it completely redone.
Some places accept a homestudy done by another agency, and some don't. For instance if you're working with a national agency and they do your homestudy, if you moved and continued to work with that agency it would cause fewer problems. If you're also changing agencies it would cause more problems.
If you know you can't use the homestudy until you live in California it is much better to wait until you get to California to have the homestudy done. It will likely save you some frustration and money.
Good luck!

California requires you to do a homestudy at your new home here. Everytime you move into a different home you have to do it again. They will not accept anyone elses.
