Any suggestions as to where I can locate other Bulgarian adoptive parents and in finding a good, reputable agency? This just ain't working over here.
I leave my e-mail address and it's like the desert.
Time to move on!
Goodbye!!!!!If somebody out there in cyberspace can recommend a better community regarding Bulgarian adoption and a reputable agency, I'm all ears.

Hello,
Does anybody have any updates regarding Bulgarian adoptions? We sent our application to Bulgaria in May 2005. Our agency hasn't received any feedback yet. Is that normal? Thank you in advance for your feedback.

Right now, there is no normal in Bulgaria. There have been several people, including myself, that submitted dossiers in 2004 and still do not have a referral. I would plan on a long wait.
Sorry

Although everything slowed down over the summer, that doesn't sound normal. I put in my application last February and was accepted in April. It took a month to translate and process and another month for the MOJ to approve. I was notified in May that I had already been put on the waiting list. I would think you should have heard something by now. Are you using an agency?
Hello,
Thank you for your feedback. We're using an agency. Our agency is having difficulty getting any kind of response from Bulgaria. Nobody ever calls them back.
I have heard that referrals are going out now but it may be slow because of the hoildays. The agency i am with told me that they have a family traveling to Bulgaria next week. I just hope the process will go a lot faster now.

Hi, we're new to the forum. My wife is a native Bulgarian and I'm from the USA. We recently decided to adopt a child from her home country and contacted an attorney friend of the family. From what we are told, the wait is to be slowed down even further, and it could be up to 3 years from the date of application.
True or not, we aren't sure. Bulgarians tend to exaggerate the bad side of things a little(even my wife admits that:-), but troubling none the less.
On a side note, we travel to the Pazardjik/Plovdiv area every summer...if anyone would like information or help, feel free to let us know.

mpdion,
When you say "no feedback"...do you mean that you don't know if you have been accepted in the MOJ yet?...or do you mean just no news lately in general?
If it is the first, no, that is not normal. You should have heard SOMETHING in a few months...I would think. I don't know if you are going through a U.S. agency or directly through a BG agency...if a U.S. agency, it could take months to know anything. If a BG agency, you should be able to find out within a month or two.
As to general information. I have not heard much. I just checked with my agency in BG to see if they had heard of any particular info and they said that there were some referrals being given out and that they hoped mine would be "sooner than later." I am not sure if that was a vote of confidence or just a general good wish. <grin>
Anybody else hear of anything?
Warm Wishes!!

Hello,
I hope you get your referral soon! Keep me posted. I wish you bright blessings and may your dreams come true very, very soon.
By no feedback, I meant we haven't heard anything at all. We never got confirmation that our Dossier was received, nor did our adoption agency. I've been a basket case. We're using a U.S. agency. At the time, I didn't know there was a difference between agencies.
Take care!
mpdion,
I see that I missed a couple posts in between! Sorry if my question was abit behind things!
Is there any way that you can find out who the BG agency is and that way contact them yourself?...the situation you describe really does not sound good. Someone somewhere along the way is not following through.
Sometimes, you can even just do a quick search for the agency you are using and Bulgaria and find other posts...or even just ask the group out right...there are only a few agencies in BG...someone should be able to tell you who the BG agency is for your US agency.
..i.e. directly e-mail a couple of the BG agencies and ask them if they could point you in the direction..
Hope that helps! ...you could already be in the registry and just no one followed up with letting you know!!
Warm wishes!

It took ours 2 weeks for translation and legalization and about 11-12 weeks to be registered. In our agency's program guide the 'norm' for this step is around 8-14 weeks, not including holidays though (like the Christmas break that just happened).

And also to say that our agency got 4 children referrals, one in Aug. 05, two in Oct. 05, and one in Nov. 05. So this is good news and we hope it keeps up now the new year is here!

May I ask if the agency is in Bulgaria or the U.S.? Also, do you happen to know how many of the referrals were for healthy children?
Thanks for the news!!
