This week will be our 5th week of MAPP classes and I am having such a wonderful time. We had the first part of our home study this past Thursday and it went great. (As far as I could tell..lol) The woman who did our homestudy said she knew of 3 kids (sibling group) that she thought would be PERFECT for our home...and then she said "Well, actually its a group of 5 but 2 of the boys have been adopted already"...and I just got a funny feeling....I KNEW these kids. So I asked her what their names are and she said "Why"? so I told her I think we already know them and she said she doubted it because there are so many sibling groups of 3 & 5 waiting for homes that it would be too far fetched BUT...for me to give HER the names of the kids I was refering to and she would tell me if I was right...so I said the names and her jaw about hit the floor. These kids (all 5 of them) at one time, were supposed to be adopted by my old boss,,,who actually had NO business being a foster parent.....long story,,but she was horrible. (My old boss was their 2nd failed adoption,,,sad sad situation) Anyway, the 2 girls and one of the boys are waiting to be placed and I would take them in a heart beat if I had another bedroom. We have 1 spare room....so what I am gonna do this week, is tell the instructor that as a LAST resort only..and if they cant find a home that will take all 3 of the kids we will take the 2 girls because they can be in the same bedroom...but only as a last resort. I would rather not seperate them if we dont have to of course,,but they need a home....they are so sweet. Anyway, i heard someone was asking about private MAPP training,,dont do it, the classes are awesome...and i believe i am learning so much more in class than I would one on one because you have more people and you get more perspective. (sp?)....you do role playing and all kinds of fun things. It's really challenging but fun at the same time. Anyway- thanks for letting me ramble.....and thanks for listening....take care all.

Normally in MAPP class they give you a list of things needed by the inspector: smoke detectors in each childs roomchemicals and medicines locked upfire extinguisher inspected and taggedany pets have to have shot records (cats for rabies, etc.)no knobs on the bedrooms that lock without a key to get into themA viewable fire escape plan w/2 different exits I know there is a list and much more but I can't think of them right now. Ask the MAPP trainer for the list.
I start next Tues. and I can't wait. I am nervous though, I go back and forth from being excited to nervous. They gave me my initital paperwork and reference forms early, so I will be able to turn them in on Tues. night. Yea!!!
I know you are excited to be getting done with your classes. Does your class go for 10 weeks?
