I was thinking . . .
I wanted to mention that for our daughter's citizenship ceremony there were several adoptees in their country's national dress. We are now trying to get one through a contact we have in Colombia but wished we would have gotten a larger one when we were there. She had even out grown it by the time of the ceremony. Of course, she fit in really well with her red, white and blue outfit.
You may want to check into getting one on your travels to Panama.

What citizenship ceremony?
I figure I'll get a mola shirt from the Indians at YMCA in the Canal Zone. You can get some Panama stuff at the El Dorado mall or Central (Avenida Central).
If you're interested in the mola motif, you can actually buy Mola patches on ebay and sew them on a lil camp shirt or Geyaverra type shirt.
I've never seen Poinetta dancer dresses on sale anywhere. But OH how CUTE a lil girl would be in that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The mola shirts or a nice colorful t-shirt is a GREAT idea, Robin. I did not think of that.
There are several places throughout the city to get the national dress for girls and boys. I am sure your agency representative can help you.
Even though your child is an American citizen when they hit US soil, INS (or whatever they call themselves) suggests you file the proper paperwork for citizenship. Then they have a big ceremony and give you the official paperwork. In September there is a National Citizenship Day and many INS offices have ceremonies for adoptees on that day (for PR reasons in my opinion). Our ceremony was held at the zoo and all the parents and kids got free admission for the day. There were tv cameras galore and the ceremony was beautiful with adoptive parents speeches, choirs, government officials, military representatives and much more.
