My husband and I have recently began researching the adoption process. We would like to adopt a caucasion infant. I knew it would be costly, but had not idea that it would cost as much as what we have been finding. Can anyone please recommend agencies that you may have dealt with where the costs were not so high. Often I am hearing around $30,000 for domestic and international. Any direction or insight you can give us would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.:)

First, not every domestic situation will be that expensive. The reason why you see these high-fee situations 'advertised' or 'publicized' is because they're so high. Most domestic situations will run between $4,000 - $10,000 complete. Ours was slightly higher - $14,000 - primarily because of travel.
Also, we were able to 'cashflow' most of that expense - honestly, we were surprised when we totalled it up. Our largest single check was to the attorney who did finalization - $2300, and they offered to take that in payments if we needed.
As to agencies, I'd ask your OB/GYN, religious leader, friends & neighbors for recommendations - that's how we found ours. We realized we were on to a good group when three different people independently recommended one agency. Also, if there's a local adoption support group, check with their members.

Dear Quinn:
I am working with some propective adoptive couples in the Pittsburgh area. We have formed an advertising network.
My husband and I paid $12,000. for the adoption of our baby, start to finish (including home study and all legals).
There is no reason to pay more than $15,000. to adopt a newborn. Please don't pay more than that.

When my husband and myself decided to adopt, we searched Pa adoptions. Their are alot of children listed at AdoptPaKids.com, right here in Pa. The SWAN site was very helpful to us, along with the people we spoke to, and we are presently starting adoption process to adopt a family of four. Their are all age ranges, and the fees state "little to no cost". Most of these children are currently in foster homes. You might care to check this site out.
