Hello Everyone, I am new to the board but have been reading the posts for about a week now. They are very informative. Thank you for sharing all your experiences.
I would like to know if anyone has adopted a Chinese baby since the restriction on single parent adoptions was created. If so, how long was your wait? Was the agency about on target with the time frame that you were given? I just put my name on a waiting list yesterday and I was told that I probably won't start the process until next year and won't be able to pick up my baby until 2006.
Have you considered a special needs adoption from China? There isn't a single parent quota in place for kids with SNs. Many of the special needs are minor issues that are easily corrected here. Then you could start sooner. On the other hand waiting a while gives you more time to prepare financially!

Every agency seems to handle their singles in a different way. Some have waiting lists; some post that they will accept applications on a first in; first served basis. My agency did online "preapplications" and selected official applicants from the pre-applications. I hope to be ready to send my dossier to China (DTC) in June. I tried with two agencies that did the first in; first served method and missed with both of them.
Next time around (and there will be a next time) I will probably do the special needs (SN) route because singles can adopt without respect to the quota from the SN list. Some problems are very minor and some may have been corrected in China.
Hope this helps!!
