Iwant to know if I should be looking for my sons bio dad? This is my story, I got preg. at 15 and when I was 9 mons. the dad said he did'nt want to have the child or be with me plus became very abusive and drug dependent. So I left AZ and moved back to CA to my parents. Found my husband who I am still with 9yrs. later who wishes to adopt my son. Do I need to look for bio-dad and does he still have any rights after so many years?help?:(

Yes, the state had us tested and he knows he's the father. The state also sent a copy to AZ and then had him put on the birth certificate. Do you think I need to find him and ask him if he will terminate his rights before we start the step-parent adoption? Or should we move on?

Yes he still has rights and yes you should try to find him. You have to serve him with papers whether or not he agrees and you have to know where he is to do this. I posted several links in a previous posting to help others be able to research the law as it applies to their case. Go ahead and look at a few of the links and see if you can't get some of your questions answered.
Good luck!!
