Has anyone recently adopted a child from Belarus (or is in the process)? My husband and I have two domestically adopted 9 years olds, and we would like to adopt an infant or toddler boy.
I read in this forum that at some point there were "lots" of boys available for placement but wondered if anyone has recent information or experience.
Thanks!

We adopted a little girl from Belarus last April its a long story but she had been living with us in Ireland for the last 3 years she is a special needs child deaf and bilnd. Marsha is her name and we love her to bits! The answer to your question is yes there is lots of little boys available there is a shortage of girls but no problem with boys. I have been to the country many times as an aid worker so I have seen the kids they really are beautiful and no they dont all have special needs there are loads of healthy perfect little boys. Email me if you need any help and good luck!

We are in the process of adopting from Belarus. We are using IAG. I am anticipating anywhere from 6 months to a year wait. So far everything has gone very smooth.

Yes, My husband and I adopted two Belarusian teenage sisters just this last May. They are ages 16 and 15. I saw lots of boys in the institutions when we were there, but they were older because of the particular institution our daughters came from. I know that there is a great need for homes for children of all ages and both genders. It was a very moving experience to walk into one of these institutions and see the need there, first hand. I hope that you will pursue adopting a boy. I hope that it will be as rewarding for you as it has been for us.
I personally know three families who have adopted from Belarus (four children all together). The chidlren are doing wonderfully and are adjusting quicly as well.
I have worked in a Belarussian orphanage and can say from experiance that there are scores of boys waiting to be adopted from ages six months to sixteen years old.
