my fiance and i are getting married in aug. of 04 she has a beautiful 2yr old boy named brandon who knows me as daddy i have been around him for a year now and love him w/ all my heart. his bio-father has seen the child 2 times once a few days after he was born the second time was a couple months later on fathers day its has been almost 2 years now since the father has had any contact w/ the child. The bio dad is a resident alien and a drug addict he wants nothing to do w/ the child what is the quickest and cheapest way to go about adopting brandon i don't have a lot of money but any cost would be worth it in the end....... would it be cheaper just to get him deported??? just kidding i'm not that mean:D
also he is about 32 months past due on child support

First of all, I want to hug you on being a stand up guy!!!I am not exactly sure. But if ther ehas been no contact between the father and Brandon, then Brandon is considered abandon. It shouldnt be hard or expensive. I would call the attorney generals office in your area and ask them where you should go. it should be a simple step parent adoption...

Once you get married you can do the Step Parent Adoption. My Husband adopted my son. We did have the biological father's permission (also past due childsupport for years) and he looked at it as a way to not have to pay anymore. We did the whole adoption ourselves and it only cost about $1,500. Call your county clerk's office and ask for the person in charge of step parent adoption. The woman who helped us guided us each step of the way. You will need a home study done regardless (thought this was strange myself) since the child has lived in our house since before we got married.
