I am searching for my mothers' birth parents. She was born 2 June 1922, at St. Mary's Maternity Hospital and Infants' Asylum, Syracuse NY, birth name Margaret Seymour. Her mother listed is Laura Seymour with no father listed. My mother searched for numerous years for her birth parents and was denied access to those records. My mother is now deceased from an ailment that I believe is afflicting myself, brothers and sisters. I would like to find this information, not for only my mothers memory, but for family medical reasons also. Thank you in advance for any information received.
Hi,
I'm looking for a Margaret Seymour. However, she would be about 60 - 64 years old. I am under the impression she was from the South though. Oh, and her middle name was Ann or Anne. Any advice would be appreciated.

Tried a search of the 1920 census. Found a few, but none in Syracuse. Do you happen to know Laura's age or state of birth?
CAT,
If you are in Syracuse or near Syracuse, email me and I will tell you where you can do research her possible Bmother's birth and marriage. Do you know if your mother ever contacted the agency, or the state registry and got Non-Identifying information? If not, you might want to see as a direct decendant if you can also get this information. Hope this is of help. KB.

Dear Cat. Have you found out anything yet? I am searching 1924 St. Mary's. Have name of person but can't find. I wonder if the Nuns made up the names. RMP
Hello. I am an adult adoptee who is planning to film a documentary about adoptees and their struggle to find members of their birth families. It will focus on the difficult search process, in terms of the material and psychological effects it has on the adoptee and their families.
In the production stage, we will be filming in Austin, Texas. We need your help, in a supportive way through getting the word out about what we are doing, writing letters to you state representatives and the white house, as well as your donations, both large and small.
If you would like to appear in the documentary, please send me a one-page synopsis of what has happened to you in your search and it must be so compelling that I could not turn you down.

I just found out yesterday that my mom was born at St Mary's Maternity Hospital. Her birth certificate does not list my Grandmother's real name and am very curious as to why. I do not know who my Grandfather is and it lists his name. Would love to figure out this mystery. Does anyone know where to get information for births that occurred at St. Mary's? Thanks.

Hi Cat,
I noticed that your mother's birth record states her name as Maura M. Seymour. You can obtain her birth certificate if you haven't already by writing to the state and sending $20 asking for certificate number 49487.
I was also able to find a Laura Seymour who does fit the right age group and was never listed with a daughter Margaret or Maura. The problem with this Laura is that she was married to a Seymour, maiden name having been McClure. Laura McClure married Willard Seymour. This Laura was born in 1888 and died in 1961. In 1919 Laura and Willard lost a child, so they were still having children around the time your mother was born in 1922. Their graves can be found here: Her picture is attached in case you wanted to see that prior. I do not know if this is your Laura Seymour, but she does check all of the boxes.
Passport photo of Mr and Mrs Willard Seymour attached.
Hope this helps!
. In 1923 Laura (Mrs. W. W. Seymour) was looking for someone to help with housework in their house, maybe there were health issues at play.
