The bio father was personally served with a Notice of Alleged Paternity over 30 days ago and has not responded. My lawyer has submitted the paperwork to terminate his rights as attached to my petition to adopt.
Does anyone know how long it takes for the paper work to go through the system for a judge to sign the order?
I know the time varies, but has anyone gone through this (I am in Los Angeles)?

First he needs to be served the paperwork. They will schedule a hearing for the termination.Usually 70 days out. If he doesn't show up they will grant the termination and then you have to wait 60 days after that to give him time to appeal. If he does not appeal then you may proceed with the adoption. If he contests or appeals the process takes longer. Figure 4-5 mos. in the least if he doesn't fight it.
