I am very confused right now. My now 13 yr old daughter and now 10 yr old son that were adopted 7 years ago. I have had contact with the parents through out the years from time to time. Both of my children are ADHD my doughter is being tested for bipolar. This runs in the family as I know my sister has it. Is this something that can be tested with out my daughter fooling the counclers into believing she has it if she does not? From what I understanmd right now she is not safe from herself right and this scares me. She has spent time in a safe house to keep her from hurting herself. She knows who I am and remembers me. Could this be part of her problem? She wants to see me but can not right now. Would it help her to see me? The adopitive mother is asking me for help with this family history witch I do not know much of since I am adopted myself. How can I find out about my medical history with out family to tell me?

Yes, if you get a thorough evaluation by a licensed mental health provider who has substantial training and experience with such children. You are looking for a therapist either who is, or who meets the criteria, to be a registered clinician with the Association for the Treatment and Training in the Attachment of Children.
