Hi. We are at the very beginning of the process. I just signed us up for the MAPP class and it starts on Aug. 30. Anyone else in the area who has any advice, suggestions or just wants to share the experience?
Hi, I live in Jacksonville and thought i would reply. We did not go through the state (went private instead) however we did wind up adopting a special needs child. go figure. its funny how the last thing you thought you wanted is the very thing God decides you need. Timothy has been home with us since Sept 26 and we can not imagine life without him. if you would like to chat or just need moral support drop a line. Lisa

Hi Lisa. Thanx for responding. As I said earlier we have just started the process. If accepted, we are looking to adopt a little boy 3 - 8 years old. The younger the better. We already have a 6 year old bs. He wasn't too happy about it at first but he's starting to get excited about getting a brother. lol
We are planning on going through the state.
sorry for taking so long to reply. we just got home from vacation on monday and I kinda got backed up on erands and housework ect... we have adopted two older girls. they came to us when they were 7 and 10 years old. they are now 12 and almost 15. they were so excited to adopt a baby brother. he runs the show. if I am not holding him then he is with one of his two sisters, his father, or my mother who lives with us. he is one spoiled little prince.
I hear you about the errands and housework. It doesn't stop even when you're not there. lol
How old is the "spoiled little prince"?
He is 13 months old but was born very early. (24 weeks gestation) so he is about 14 lbs right now. His therapists say that he is between 6-8 months on a developmental scale which is not bad considering his adjusted age is 9 months. my husband and i are thinking about going through the state for our next one but we are still not sure.

He really is doing well then. :) I'll keep you posted on how our experience with the state goes. But we must remember we are dealing with Florida and Jacksonville.
