My husband and i are trying to adopt a one year old. She has been in our home for 67 days now. Her parental rights were terminated and there was no appeal. However her grandmother who lives in New York has been trying since well before we ever got the child to be a relative placement and/or adoptive home for her. The grandmother has not been giving NY any information such as social security numbers birth certificates etc. to help her get approved. Is there a law that limits how long the grandmother would have to get approved? We have a signed memorandom to be the pre-adoptive home already. We are waiting on our subsidy package to be turned in for approval for us to adopt. My next questions are do you have to wait for the subsidy package for your 90 days to start then you adopt or does your 90 days start from when the child is in your home? We can't get a straight answer from anyone. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Lisa
