I was wondering, do you think the nonidentifying info that you send your money for is the truth because My adopted mom told me many years ago that my birth mom was around 30 when she had me, and different stuff, but when I contacted the agency to ask her name and age and stuff they told me that she was 25 and told me her name first name only but, for some reason, I don't beleive this info, they also told me that I would have to pay for the rest of the nonidentifying info file. Do you think that they alter this some what and why, did anyone eles gets false info? I just don't know if I want to waste my money and it not be the truth. what would you do? Thanks for listening. from Mississippi.

I'm not an expert, but I think what is written was written (or answered) by the birth mom. I don't see how the agency would benifit by altering this information. But I could be wrong.
Now as for paying for the information. Agencies are set up to make money. They made a profit for handling the adoption. So of course they have to find away to make money when handling searches. I'm not saying it's right. But it is a business.

I was born in MO and when I began my search I started with CC and an case worker (CI) was assigned to my case. I didn't know if my birth name was really that of the bmother or just some name plucked out of the air. To get the non id info the fee last in 2002 was 50 dollars and for a search an extra 200 dollars. The CI tried her darndest to get my bmom to reply..she never did. I did get non id information but there were no names first or last.
Following that unsuccessful effort I hired a PI and learned that my given name was that of my bmom..( the last name anyway). I got quite a bit of info through the PI but not my bdad..and looks like I won't get that at least not for the forseeable future. I then got to work on ancestry and genealogy searching and learned my birthgrandmother's full name (maiden) and know that I was given her name.
From what the CI told me the information on the forms, complete or sketchy, is what is given to them by the birthmother or her family. Sometimes a name of a relative is given or the maiden name of the grandmother..something like that. And sometimes birthdates can be altered. In my younger brother's case, he was actually born in Oct but his birthdate was changed to Nov..I guess because he was born in IA and we lived there and someone thought it might be harder for the bmom to find him thatway...
This probably doesn't help much..If it is not too costly and you can afford to get the non id information I would suggest you do that. It should give you the age of the bmom, and a description of her and maybe medical information..such as any health problems and education level etc. It might answer some of your questions.
Good luck
