To whomever is reading this,
I have already listed a note looking for my parents, but I was optomistic then. I have been conducting my own search but have recently reached a dead end. My adoption file, along with my identifying and non-identifying (and medical) information was lost in a fire at an Iron Mountain storage facility in South Brunswick, NJ in 1997 due to arson. The Catholic Home Bureau was in charge of my adoption, which took place in New York. I was born in Suffern, NY at the Good Samaritan Hospital. I was told that at least one of my birth parents might be of Italian background, but I am not sure. The woman who not only ran the Home Bureau (now retired) but who facilitated my adoption was Sister Uma McCormick. My birth mother gave my adopted mother a letter to give me when I turned 18. I am now 21 and was only told about the letter last year. I never had the chance to read it as it was lost. So...any information or help would be appreciated very sincerely.
Thank you for taking the time to read my note.

hi there, this may seem out of the blue since your last post was 2004 but what did you end up doing? i was also born in Suffern at Good Samaritan and was adopted through the Catholic Home Bureau (so all my files with them are also burned). i'm wondering what the next step is and what you did? try to get the courts to unseal your records or birth cert? hire someone? despite the bureau's records being burned, do other copies exist elsewhere?... thought since our situations were similar you might have already gone through this and would have some advice
