Hello everyone,
My assumption is that everyong here believes in, is workign toward, or has a sibling placement.
OK, by the time you read this - many of you will probably think that DH and I are crazy - But...
First, we are VERY excited to be under serious consideration for matching with 13 yo twin girls. We consider the match IDEAL and are sooo excited to be under consideration.
We have 3 bio kids who still live home while attending college and working, J (girl age 24), M (boy age 22), and C (boy age 18). They all think that if we adopt a single child, they will be an only child. They are close and are very uncomfortable with the lonliness they perceive an only child would feel.
This is the criteria we gave our worker:
Strongly prefer Jr. High (grade 7 here) or older; will consider slightly younger if the older sibling is solidly in Jr. High to keep them together.
Sibling group of 2 - we have one bedroom set up
Girls - the room has white furniture and I am not buying more furniture.
Must be able to live with dogs (we have 3), cats (20), horses (2), and a rooster (don't ask!! ;) )
Need to safely be able to share a room.
My biological children have some learning disabilities. J - severe CAPD and mild dyslexia, M - ADHD, C severe dyslexia, severe photosensitivity, on meds for migraines.
If we are successful, we will be proof that there is life after changing agencies and after a disrupted teen placement (she decided with her county support that she did not want to be adopted and is pursuing a GED and emancipation).
I will keep you posted.

Congrats and good luck!
We had a disrupted placement in May. After 4 months of visitation and one week prior to moving in, our teen decided she would rather stay in her group home. I too think she was looking forward to emancipation because her main goal was to have a baby.
We had another therapist appointment set up for her, so the psych suggested DH and I come in together so we could at least discuss the disruption.
The one most important thing she said to us was that in the future, if we had the option, to always choose a sibling group over a single child. The reason being, especially the older the children, it is tougher for them to bond. If they have a sibling, it is assumed that they are already bonded and thus have the base within themselves to form other bonding relationships.
Two girls in the same bedroom should not be a problem. From everyone we have spoken to, two girls that close in age (or in you case twins) would want to be together as opposed to being apart. Kind of like a comfort thing. Made sense to us.
With your little farm there it shouldn't be too hard to keep them busy ;) and have you ever heard of a girl who did not wish she had a horse?
Again, good luck and keep us posted.

We have been matched with the twins, K and K. They are 13 and in grade 7 - PERFECT.
They have all the usual nasty histories - lets face it, if they had joyous, wonderful childhoods, they would not be awaiting adoption at age 13 in the system.
Still don't know when we get to meet them. The social workers have some paperwork to get through due to the interstate stuff. We are in CA, K&K are in Ohio.
We are so excited. I will try to keep all posted.

Hi,
I have something very funny to tell you....I live in KY and am very frustrated at the adoption process here. I have always looked at the Ohio adoption website.
Immediately before I came here to read the new posts I had tried to call a worker in Ohio on twin 13 year old girls - you guessed it - their names begin with K & K.
Isn't that the strangest thing???
Congratulations to you and your family! You sound soooo very excited I'm sure those girls are going to have a wonderful family life.
Best wishes,
Michelle
BTW: they're beautiful!

Yes, the girls are the ones on the Ohio state site named Katrina and Kimberly. I don't know when the little heart goes up next to their name on the site, but we have been "officially" notified that we are matched with them and have started getting history details.
We are very excited and can't wait to meet them.
Thank you for the kind wishes and comments about the girls.

P.S. We may be a little prejudiced, but we think ALL of our kids are beautiful, including Katrina and Kimberly. LOL
I just looked on Ohio's listing to see your babies. They're beautiful girls! They sound wonderful. Your home sounds like such fun--I love animals. Congratulations!!!! Please let us know how your visit goes. I love the happy stories! It is nice to see proof that eventually people DO get matched and get their kids. I'm so happy for you and your DH.
