 We have to start somewhere... and I like what I'm reading on this forum.
I have one bio child F-5... and cannot have more without lots of fertility treatment. My husband is older, raised 3 of his own (as a single father, I might add!) and can no longer father.
We want to adopt a girl, age 4-5 and are open to all the options, but do need a healthy child.
We are Catholic, born/raised. My main question is will it be difficult for us to locate & successfully adopt a child this age without it taking forever! We want our little girl to have the blessings of a sibling while she begins her school life.
We're thinking of going through our church, however, we have annulments to obtain both of us -- will this prevent us from being considered?
Any honest and thoughtful suggestions are welcome. Thank you for taking the time to read this. God Bless!
Hi!
Just wanted to welcome you to the boards. It's always nice hearing from new people!
As far as your question is concerned regarding adoption & annulments needed...I'd check with your local diocese tribunal or Catholic Charitities Office. They may know the answer. You might want to even consider looking into your local state department to see how you go about adopting waiting children in the system so to speak. The process is long and sometimes weary but definitely worth it.
Good Luck!!

We appreciate your kind words. Our pastor has also just provided some avenues... he was adopted with his brother at the ages we are seeking here in California!
That's great to have that kind of resource.
Again, I wish you all the best and will be praying for you & your family!!
Keep us all posted on your progress...we'll be here for you if you need us!!
Dear BuzzandMary, My husband and I are adoptive parents of one child and have recently been matched with our second child to be born in November. Have you tried Catholic Charities? We did our first adoption through and agency and now we have recently been matched through Catholic Charities. They do so much counciling there that they may have knowledge of a waiting child. Even though I am Catholic, I was suprised to learn that you do not need to be Catholic to adopt through their agency. Our coucelor there has been not just helpful, but a true angel. I will keep you in my prayers.

:) Christine, thank you for your reply. Can you tell me more about CAtholic Charities and how you found them? I haven't been able to locate that exactly... would so much appreciate knowing more about your experience with that. Good luck to you and God Bless you and yours!
