Has anyone received their info or heard anything from the Newfoundland government lately? I only submitted my request in May 2004 so I was not expecting it too soon but was wondering if anyone has actually received anything from them. I know my cheque has been cashed, they didn't take long to do that. I am out West so haven't bothered to phone them because I figured I would only get the run around anyway. I was really happy to find this site and see others sharing what they are going through. Any communications appreciated.

Hi Peggy:
A Friend of mine works for child services in St. John's and told me a few weeks ago that there is a two year waiting list for people to get information from Post Adoption Services. Apparently, they only have on person covering the work.

....Hello guys, yes something is wrong. I submitted mine in September of 2004 and have found my surviving relatives. Don't give up either, I find there are alot of folks happy to find their birth relatives in Newfoundland, or at least Labrador for sure.....
Hi,
I submitted my form to vital stat in March of 2004 and like yourself, I still have not heard anything, but my cheque was cashed within 2 weeks of them receiving the form, and I like yourself live out west too. I received my non identifying into back in april of last year, but that was from post adoption services, I wonder what the hold up is in getting the original birth certificate from Vital stats.
Have a good day

hi janet
that seems to be along time waiting to hear from vital stats maybe you should call them.i recd some into regarding my brother.he was adopted 1967 by a presbyterian couple in theor early forties at the time.they also had one other adopted child and the adopted father was employed in a family run business.that should be fairly easy to find because that religion was not common in nfld at that time.the adopted mom seems like might been school teacher and she taught sunday school.anyway good luck with your search i would call vital stats though and see what the hold up is.take care.
