We are Army and in Germany too. Depending on where you are, there are at least two American Adoption Support Groups here. One is at Landstuhl Hospital monthly, and the other is in Mannheim monthly. They may be helpful. I would suggest contacting the state adoption agency of your state of residence. Also, there are some states with Special needs children who are very willing to allow military families overseas to adopt special needs children. There are some families in the Landstuhl area who have done that. Good luck. Hope this helps some.

A other note: how can legal help you. Lisa, if you still out there, please give advise. Who did you contact at the hospital, is ther a special office. I contacted via e-mail the National Adoption Center in PA. But no reply. I guess because we are overseas. I saw Antionette, 4 years old with a developmentally delay and wish to adopt her. How can I rush this process before some one else fall in love with her. Boy......I do need help.

The woman there I talked to is Named Clarice Carey and her email address is ccarey@dhs.state.ia.us When I contacted her about adopting (hubby is in the Navy and we are in Italy) she was very enthusiast about working with us if we could find someone to do a homestudy (we couldn't) and she had mentioned she had just completed an adoption with a military family in Germany. Hope this info is helpful.

My husband is in the RAF and at the moment we are stationed at RAF Honington in Suffolk, England. We already have one biological child born in Germany 5 years ago stationed at RAF Laarbruch. We have been trying for another baby since, but nothing happened. So we have decided to adopt and did'nt know if that would go against us being in the forces.
