How do I search microfiche?

Kim, About your non-id-info first....its not unusual to wait several months for that so don't give up. Seems some agencies are faster than others but some have waited as long as 6 to 8 months. To Search the Microfiche.......contact the Dept of Vital Statistics in Columbus and make a appointment. They give you only 3 hours to search and most times that is not long enough because the births are in Alphabetical order and since you have no idea what your birth name might be that means you will start at A and go to Z. Most times you have to make a second appointment and I am not sure you can make that in anticipation? You can ask tho telling them your circumstances? It would help you to have your info before going because you will know from that if your birth mother was a SINGLE mother or was married. If she was single you will only need to concentrate on the baby girls that has the same last name as mother [ie; SMITH-SMITH] And since you have no idea if you were named at birth you will also have to search for all the [no first name] babies born on your date of birth born to single mothers. If she was married then you will have a difficult time. There are a few clues but none that are conclusive. This is then a process of elimination once you get home with all those names.
