Welcome Linda. :) We are a Trans Racial family. Hubby & I are Caucasian & we have 2 bio children. We adopted a Biracial daughter, an AA daughter & an AA son. the children are 16, 14, 4, 2 & 1.
How far into the adoption process are you? Have you started your Homestudy yet? I'd be more than happy to help you where ever I can.
GOOD LUCK
Deb

Hi Deb,thanks for your kind reply! Our homestudy has been complete since July last year, and we have had very little communication from the Crisis Pregnancy Outreach we were hoping to adopt from.Initially it was "We are always short of families wanting AA babies!", but that just doesn't seem true now. Yesterday, a social worker from an agency in TX told me they wouldn't even take our application, because we "already had a very large family".When I look around this board, there seem to be so many wonderful people ready to welcome an AA baby, and I ask myself "Should we even try to compete?" We are probably at the point where we will look overseas, probably Haiti. It seems that there are plenty of children needing loving families there, and we get to adopt more than one. Anyway, thanks for listening! Blessings on your family, Linda
Don't let this 'get you down'. Whether you choose to adopt from Haiti or not, there is still a need for families wanting to adopt AA babies. We are a large family too; and while I think this may be why a couple of agencies act the way they do to us, most of them think it's fine. We're seemingly CC......but we've adopted internationally, through the system, and our last two babies are AA.
Don't feel as though you're competing, because there IS no competition. The right baby will come to you in the way that it should, I think.
I"m not real pleased with some agencies and their own agenda these days....but if you search, you can find one that will welcome you AND your family!
Good luck!
Sincerely,
Linny
