We might have an opportunity in CA and are looking into the details regarding icpc (or whatever it is called), etc. If you have had this experience or a similar experience (living in FL but adopting outside of FL), please reply? I'm looking for details on how long it took FL to approve, and if you used a facilitator rather than an agency, did that make a difference? Any other info would be appreciated!!

We adopted twins from NY and we live in Miami-Dade County. The twins came to us separately, so they were actually two separate experiences.
Both times, I flew up to NY, picked up the baby and stayed there until the interstate compact was complete. It took less than a week in both cases. You need a receiving agency in Florida and the placing agency in the other state will do the interstate compact. (I think the charge for the receiving agency was $500 plus another $1000 for the followup visits).
These were agency adoptions, of course, and things may be different if you are adopting through the state.
Good luck
