Hi Everyone! We are in the very early stages of adoption, looking at agencies, etc. My concern is my husbands age. He is 44, I am 31. We live in Florida. Are there age restrictions on adopting, what are our chances of being matched? This is the only thing that I am afraid will keep us from adopting. Can you be considered too old to adopt? Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Shelly

Too OLD? HA!I was 43 when we adopted our second and my DW is 9 years older then I. Age is a state of mind.I do not know if Florida has any restrictions on age, but you will find some agencies that place age restrictions. One thing that is in your advantage is the age difference between you and your DH. While is was not an issue for us, we were told that our age difference would reduce any issue with my DH age.I say go for it. We have found that our 'maturity' has been an advantage. We are over the major life issues like career establishment and limited finances.

DH is 20 years older than I. Has three grown children from first marriage.
I am in my early 30s---never been married. No other children.
The restrictions we encountered were with certain agencies. In the end, we matched and finalized with two agencies that never batted an eye over our ages.
In fact, neither did bmom. Look around and get plenty of info. Agencies that have quite a waiting list...especially for Caucasian babies...are usually the ones that more restrictive age limits.
