Okay Michiganders...cross your chilly fingers and toes...
We have a potential match!!!! After over a week of conversing on email and talking on the phone with a fabulous woman in Kentucky who found us through Parent Profiles, she has given us the big thumbs-up! She called our agency, called the attorney they recommended for her in her area, and then went for her first ultrasound on Tuesday...and....its a boy! When she called me after her 7 hour doctors appointment, her exact words were- "You and Steve are going to have a beautiful healthy baby boy!"
Wow...Im still a bit numb and reserved, but very, very hopeful.
She is due April 17th.
The biggest road block in the whole thing is that her husband is out a sea in the Navy somewhere near Italy. It may be an issue to get his signature, but everyone is diligently working on a solution...UGH!
This is the closest we have been so far, so I will be sure to keep you posted.
I know Nikole you spend so much time researching adoption and how hard it will be to get your match. you forget how it will be or what you will need to do to actually be a parent. I found out that our pbmom hasn't been talking to us lately because she is resentful of the fact that we will be raising her daughter, this makes me sad. i worry about the hospital experience and i don't get the updates anymore. our adoption counselor says that this is normal. i just hope she calls us as soon as she can when she has the baby so we can fly up there.

Glad to see your update, Nicole. I have been thinking about you and wondering how everything is going. It is so exciting so see all the fellow Michiganders becoming parents! Maybe we'll become parents soon, too!
How exciting for those of you "almost-mommies"!
Congrats... sending our good vibes all happens, quickly and safely for all involved~
Just checkin in...
Dee~ how is it going with Parent Profiles?
Rocky~ HOW ARE YOU?!?!?!
Well, the due date came and passed...now we are DD plus one. She will go to the doctor tomorrow and we will see if she can be induced. I talked to her yesterday and she doesnt have any contractions at all, she isnt feeling any different than she has the past couple of months. Oh my!
So, I just wanted to keep you all posted!
Talk to you soon- Im getting back to work at the office while Im still here....:)
Hello! I haven't been on the boards in a few days because we have been busy with a subdivision garage sale.
Nikole -- You are getting close to becoming a mom! That is great news! I wish you and the birthmom a safe, smooth and wonderful delivery.
As far as ParentProfiles, we mailed our paperwork on Friday, so our profile should be activated sometime this week! :) So we may hear from some potential birthmothers soon. We are nervous and excited. We really hope this works for us. The road to parenthood has been pretty long and we are eager to finally have a child.
My sister will be having her second child soon. She is due in just a few weeks. It would be so cool to have a child close in age to hers. She and I were always close growing up (and still are) and had hoped our children would be as well. I'm keeping my fingers crossed! :)

Nikole,
Any news? Is the Bmom being induced? Please give us a quick update when you have a chance.
Well, no baby yet. She went to her appt and they thought she was progressing nicely and do not want to induce yet. They want her to take it easy, cook the baby some more, and come back on Monday. AHHHHHHHHHH!
We arent really freaking out, because we think he will come when he is ready. Steve and I are cherishing these last few days together very much. We are very calm and are enjoying our time together the best we can.
We rushed around to get "caught up" on school, work, home, garden, etc. We were so ready to leave a week and two days ago. Its strangely calming that she hasnt delivered yet.
We have the rest of our lives to be parents - so we are trying not to be anxious and feel rushed.
Ill keep you posted on any new developments!
He's here! He's here!
Everything could not be more right. Carter was born Tuesday at 2:57pm weighing in at 8.1 and 21 inches long.
He is a perfect angel. Eats like a tank and sleeps like...well...a tank! hee hee
Bmom was discharged today, my dh took her home and stopped for dessert along the way. We got to know her deeply in the past few days and I will cherish this relationship with her forever. She is an amazing woman.
Here he is...
Oh, and Kim~ he LOVES the bassinet!

Kerri-
Glad to hear you are hanging in there. You have been in my thoughts and prayers this week.
I do actually have a little update. Last night a potential birthmom called us! Now I know how you guys all felt when someone contacted you. It is sooo exciting and nerve-wracking at the same time!
She seemed very nice and lives here in Michigan. We exchanged some info, so we will see what happens. Everyone please keep your fingers crossed for us.
YEAH NIKOLE!!!! Congrats, its so much work but so much fun... it doesnt feel like work.. I know you are floating right now.. so write more and keep us posted when you can..
Dee how exciting! I'll keep you in my thoughts.. and send good vibes your way!!
Hugs to all of you if it wasnt for your thoughts and prayers i dont know if i would have made it though this tough time. We have decided to wait before moving forward again, i think we need a break, so during this (maybe small) break we are looking for a new agency. If anyone has any good ones to share with me let me know (in a PM). I think we are going to lean toward an out of MI adoption.
Keeping good vibes out there for everyone!
