After 6 months, which felt like 6years, we are finally off the waiting list for Catholic Charities domestic adoption program. We are from the Richmond,Va. diocese and they only allow 12 potential parents in the program at a time. They said they had a rush of adoptions over the winter and were taking new applications.
I just got a call from our new social worker and will meet face-to-face at the end of the month. I am so nervous, and excited, and impatient, and excited some more. I could just burst--and it's only the beginning.
I haven't been on the board in several months because the pain of waiting was very difficult to bear. I read a book about St. Jude and said the novena. No doubt my prayers were answered!

Good luck with your wait! We also worked with Catholic Charities (in another state). Unfortunately they did not limit the number of waiting families. We ended up waiting 2.5 years for our son and 3 years for our daughter, with 4 failed matches during the wait. How long of a wait are they estimating in your program? DH and I found praying to St. Joseph to be helpful. :) In fact we are saying a novena to him this month , so We will include your intentions in our prayers.
Hang in there!
