I am looking to adopt indy either thru Russia or Ukraine. Do you know what regions are good in Russia? Russian help would be invaluable. Tori

what do you mean "good"? I wouldlike to help you with anything possible in Russia, but what is "good" or "bad" region? can you clarify?

I meant which regions are friendly to those who want to adopt independently. I have been told by others that some regions are easier than others. Tori

I have never heard that some regions are more friendlier than others. I would say that generally, people in larger cities have more relaxed attitude toward Americans overall and to international adoption in particular. But, I would not even worry about it, because you are dealing with a small number of people when going to find your child. Most of the people around you would not know why are you there. You will deal with people who are in the adoption field, and they know why are you adopting and I would say, they have normal thoughts about people who want to make children happy.I was born in St. Petersburg but I lived most of my life in Voronezh (city 400 miles south from Moscow) I was adopted from a small baby house in the suburbs of Voronezh. It is in woods with excellent nature around. I visited that house few times in my life helping them to showel the snow. Kids there are from newborns to 3 y.age.

I do not know how Ukraine works about birthmother's location. I was born in Russia and lived there for 24 years. My a-parents lived in Russia all their lifes. I came to US at 24. I found out that I was adopted at 10 (very painful finding for me b/c my a-parents were abusive by saying that) They would say nasty things about me all my childhood. You know, the attitude about adoptive kids is very bad in RUssia. They considered to be stupid bastards. Well, I do not care any more. I have J.D. in law, M.A. in foreign affairs, and PhD in Foreign Affairs. I proved by all means I am not stupid. But, it is all I do all my life-trying to find another proof for them that I am normal. (They still do not believe) I was not trying to find my b-mother in Russia. I would like to, but do not know how to do it right now

Also to the poster seeking her birthmother....there is a person in Ukraine, his name is Ruslan, that we used to find my daughter's birthmother.
