Hi everyone -
This goes along with my Possible Match post...
If this situation turns into a match, it would be considered a Designated adoption and also would be an out of state placement.
We're clueless, can anyone fill us in on Designated adoptions and out of state placements?
Thanks

Wow, djb 97 - what was the signature that got you the BIG RED NAUGHTY MESSAGE?(Just so's I won't do it ;) ) Ok, back to the question...I don't know anything about designated adoption - both of my kids are special needs/waiting children that I adopted out of foster care. But they are both out-of-state, so I've been that route before. However, I'm not sure that the requirements are the same, assuming this is an infant/baby match.I know there is ICPC paperwork to be done (in my case) - it's nothing you do, your SW does it with the child's SW. But it can take a loooong time. (Sorry :( )Now there are out-of-state / interstate adoption sections somewhere on these forums, I know I've posted in them - but again, not sure if that applies to infant/baby. Ok, so I guess I'm not much help at all. But I'm really happy for you! :D Congrats, congrats, hope all goes well. Sandy

Hi Sandy -
I added ( awhile ago ) a URL to our profile to my signature. I guess I didn't realize it was a big no, no, I didn't mean to break any rules. I've been a member for a long time, I either forgot or didn't read any updates about it.
All we know so far is that if we finalize in TN., it would take six months, here it would take three months. ICPC could take a week or two or even much longer. Depending on the type of adoption professional she chooses could had more red tape and make the process a little longer.
We have lots of research to do.
Thanks for the reply and well wishes, I'll keep ya posted.
Hugs,
Deb
Hello -
Just wanted to say we haven't heard from the pbmom since her last e-mail on 4-13-05. :(
We did send her a letter on the 19th and are disappointed every time we get the mail and do not find a letter from her. :(
 We do not know what to think, she seemed sincere and there weren't any red flags. Guess we're glad we didn't become attached to the situation and wonder if our time will ever come, we've been waiting over a year now - it's so hard to stay positive! :(
Deb :( :(
Hi everyone -
Sorry it's been a while. We had lost touch with the TN. expectant mom and had been in contact with a local expectant mom for the last 7 weeks.
We never got to meet the local gal and after her baby turned a month old, she decided to place with another family.
During this frustrating possible situation, we were contacted by the TN. gal's family, asking if we're still interested in adopting her baby. We've been in contact with the family, but not the expectant mom. She has moved and we just mailed her some info and a card yesterday, hopefully we will hear from her soon.
She is due in Sept., but went into early labor a few weeks ago, so the baby may not wait, we're praying that he/she can wait as long as possible. Since we haven't actually been contacted by her, we're not getting our hopes up.
I will keep you posted as we hear more.
Take care,
Deb
