Has anyone adopted two children and needed to travel overnight by train?
I am curious where they should sleep. The compartments are small and the beds narrow. I don't want them falling off the bed & I don't want to squish them either. I suppose they could sleep on the floor which would mean bringing even more blankets so they are comfortable.
I know this might sound like a stupid question to experienced parents, but I'm still looking for suggestions.

Hey Jen,
I've never traveled by train, period so I'm not much help. But I was wondering, how old are the children? That could make a huge difference on where I'd put them to sleep. And how long is the train ride? If they were toddlers or younger I'd probably put them in a bed...either with me, or with each other. How well do they know each other? Would they be comfortable sleeping next to each other?
Is this for a pick up trip? Where you need to be rested for a court appearance? If they were elementary aged, I think sleeping on the floor would be fine, depending on how clean the compartment is... Preschool age is a tough call.
Good luck in figuring out the sleeping arangements!

Are there first class compartments on this train? I travelled all through SE Asia after college w/a friend of mine and we did MANY overngith train trips. Third class was crammed w/people, chickens, goat, you name it. Second class was much calmer and less crowded, but had only wooden benches. First class had very nice bunk beds which would have been large enough for an adult and probably one child. Or 2 children (assuming they aren't small enough that they'd roll off the bed). The floor would not have been an option in these compartments though--it was bunk beds on either side of a narrow hall which people would walk through to get from their bunks to the bathroom.
Don't know if this applies to your situation, but for sure try to book first class.
