I'm sorry I missed this previously, I'm bumping this up, as Senate Bill 959 stands a very good chance. Its got some strong support in both the Mass Senate and House (and Finneran is no longer Speaker).

Our local State Senator Susan Fargo (herself an adoptive parent) is one of the people who introduced the bill, so it's gotten some attention here (Waltham/Newton). There were a few articles in the Daily News Tribune and the Boston Herald a couple of months back regarding this, although there hasn't been anything that I've come across since then. The articles had a positive spin - I believe they said Travaglini is supportive and the fact that efforts in the past to open records here in Mass were always defeated in the House, as Finneran was a major opponent and as you know he is no longer around. I don't know what DiMasi's (new House Speaker) stand is, do you?
