I have a 2 month old fd. She is a great baby. Smiles and goos, loves to be held, ok wants to be held all the time. We have noticed that the baby does not respond to loud noises. The other day my other foster kids dropped a book on the floor. I jumped soo high, but the baby didnt even flinch. Today at the doctor she rang a bell really loud next to her ear, again no flinch and no respond she just sits there. We have a hearing test next week for her. Is there anything else I should look for or what kind of questions I should ask. I want to make sure to get the help she needs so I want to know what I should be doing here. Ive snapped my fingers, and clapped my hands ( not too loud) next to her ears and nothing. She does smile if I talk to her, but I have to be face to face with her. Any suggestion woould be appreciated.
Thanks

If the hearing test is not normal I am sure they will refer you on an Ear Nose & Throat Dr for a follow up. Several years ago a friend on mine had a baby like that & we were sure he was hearing impaired. They did all the tests on him & the dr finally said "He hears fine. He just doesn't care!" He's 5 now & hears just fine WHEN HE WANTS TO! lol Good Luck!
Thank for the replies. I decided not to worry. Sometimes I feel that what Dmom says is what is going on with her, but then I feel like sometimes she does not respond to me unless I'm infront of her. I guess I will have to wait and see what the test shows. I took sign language in high school and still know quite a bit, but never got to really use it. So we are willing to work with a child with hearing problems.
Most states do a hearing test before they leave the hospital I think (they do here). Our 7 week old doesn't respond to loud noises either and we do have some loud noise with 4 kids. My oldest bio daughter also did not respond and I thought for sure she had a problem but they tested her again and she was fine. They just don't know to be bothered by it sometimes. Have him checked but hopefully everything will be ok. Good luck and enjoy the baby.
