I just left the St.Paul/Mpls. INS after getting fingerprinted. They had to re-do my ring finger 7 times. The supervisor even tried, and they kept saying that it looked smudged. They wiped my finger, the screen etc over and over, but they were not happy with the outcome. Finally the supervisor said to submit, and wait to hear back from INS to see if it will be approved. Has this ever happened to anyone else? I really do not want to add on to the already long wait process. Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks.

My wife had the same problem in the Pittsburgh, Pa office. We had our prints done approx. a month ago and submitted our homestudy last week. Two days ago my wife rec'd a letter telling that her prints had to be redone. She had them redone today. They told us we could call tommorrow to see if they were accepted. Hope you have better luck.

I husband had this problem too. They printed him several times, and finally said they would submit them and hope for the best. They did fine, so we were lucky. Hope you have good luck too!

My husband had a similar problem at the St. Paul INS. His fingerprints are worn down, and they couldn't read the results. Two weeks after printing, they sent him a letter to have them redone. When they redid them, the person said they still didn't work, so he had to swear an oath (that same day), and they accepted that. It didn't hold us up any - our homestudy hadn't been submitted by that time.
Good luck! : )
I had the same problem when I had my prints done at the INS office but not when I had them done at the sheriff's office. Don't ask. My fingers were raw by the time I got through with INS. However, my prints came back fine.
I have tiny pinkies. The first time we were fingerprinted they had to try half a dozen times to get a pinkie print. We didn't have a problem the second time (our fp's had expired before our dd came home).

Most of the time you get fingerprinted at an Application Support Center (ASC) for immigration petitions. Most ASCs, at this point, capture prints digitally for electronic transmission to the FBI, rather than on cards with ink. Most of the time, if you have no "hits", the print results are available in about 72 hours, though it can take time before those results are processed by the immigration service.
Generally if your prints have to be re-done twice and are still not good, you will be instructed to obtain a "good conduct" certificate from your local police authority.

I had the same problems yesterday as well. They took some of my prints over and over. I am not sure if these will have to be re-taken or not. They didn't say anything at the time.
After the fingerprinting, they stamped and signed our papers. Do these papers have to be mailed back to CIS or are these just receipts that we went fingerprinting?
