Hiya,
I was wondering if the kids in Brazil have any knowledge of English. If not, is it possible to have the kid tutored? I figure it would be easier to have the kid tutured rather than an adult learning Portugese. I'm considering adopting fostering to adopt in the US, but if that takes longer than expected, I'll look into Brazil or Colombia.

David,
Children living in an orphanage in Brazil, and most of the ones living with their families, do not speak English at all. Tutoring a child is possible however once they come to the USA the process of learning a new language is so quick for them that you don't have to worry about it (imho). I know many parents who didn't know one word in Portuguese and went down to Brazil to adopt. Everything worked out beautifully, and they had no problems communicating.
Let me know if you need more information.
