For those of you who had your child converted, How long did you wait to do the conversion after you got your child home?
Lisa
We arrived home in May '03 and did the conversion in July. Instead of going to a michvah (which would have involved traveling 90 minutes from our house) we chose to dip her in our pond--so we had to wait for the water to warm up. Also, we wanted her to be comfortable with us so that she wouldn't freak out when submerged.
The conversion was just DH, me, the rabbi and the Bet Din. In October (once we stopped being so exhausted!) we had a naming ceremony and party.

Our daughter was 8 weeks old when we had her naming ceremony. We're holding off on the mikveh until she's old enough to understand the meaning...around 4 or 5. I think it will tie in well to the larger adoption discussion then. *here's hoping!!!
Our son came home at 2 weeks old. His bris was one week later, and we went to the mikvah when he was 5 months old for the final piece of the conversion.
