Does anyone know anything about the new court system that went into effect on September 1? It sounds like there have been some new rules laid down that the judges are unsure of and it is holding up court dates for families in UKraine right now. Will this mean a longer in-Country time or not? This is a major concern for us as we are planning on leaving our son behind with friends while we are gone and obviously we want to be gone for as short a time as possible.

We have been told by our agency that the after court wait period has been reduced from 30 to 10 days, but is now mandatory and will be upheld in each region from now on. That tacks another 10 days onto your trip. Of course, you do have the option that one of you can come home after court if necessary.

That is what I heard from our agency this past Wednesday. There are still some differing rumors about it, but this is at least the most consistent one- for whatever that's worth. I guess we'll find out after Oct.1st.
