Well I finally did it. I spent the money to track down two of my kid's birthmoms and have written one. Rachel's birth mom had said in her paperwork that she would like to keep in touch but we went thru an agency that doesn't allow it without a signed statement before placement. Of course they don't tell you that before placement. Anyway a couple of years ago her foster mom was cleaning out some old papers and found something with Rachel's birth mom's full name on it. From the other paperwork I was able to figure out what state she was in and do a search pm her. 1 am pretty sure I found her and just mailed her a four page letter with pictures and a link to our family website.
Miranda's birth mom agreed to keep in touch but dissappeared within six months of the birth. We actually had all of her identifying info and at least according to public records she had resurfaced. I looks like she is getting her life in order so tomorrow I will write her. Nathan's case is going to take a real PI to get info. He is not interested in searching himself but is not opposed to us doing (in fact he has asked if we found anything) It is so funny, he was the kid who couldn't wait to search. We had to make him wait until he was 12. When that bday rolled around he was emphatic about NOT doing it. The next year I caught him running searches on the computer. I asked him if I could help and he told that he was only looking at sites where birth parents were searching. I guess he figures if we do it find them and they want contact he can do that but he doesn't have put himself out there
Has anyone here established contact with their minor birth chil or their family and does any one know a good PI in RI?

I'm in the process of trying to find my kids' bmom but no luck yet. Haven't decided if I want to hire a PI so am still doing the leg work.
I know Jensboys has a relationship with her boys' bdad, you might pm her or find her thread where she talks about it.:)
Best of luck!
