Hello all! I am new to the list and in need of some advice. We are currently homestudied parents through LDSFS and have previously adopted before. We are in a situation in which we may get a referral as a b-mom goes into labor and we may need to travel quickly - domestically. I am preparing a couple bags and keeping them by the door in case we have to travel at the last minute. What do you think I should include in my "Let's go get the baby! Kit"? I am also open to any additional travel advice. If anyone knows of any travel agencies or airlines that give good deals on adoption travel, please contact me at my persaon address. Many adoption travel websites say you should pack light and buy most of your stuff in the destination city. What do you guys think? Thanks for the replies in advance. I think we may be travelling before Christmas so I am rushing to try and get ready. Wish me luck!Megan

I really wouldn't pack for more than a week's stay. I'd definately wait to get "baby" stuff until you arrive and the baby is born. You might get a gift (comfort based) for the bmom (give it to her, whether she places or not). I have heard of a spa package or a stuffed animal. The things bmom's have posted that they don't like is leaving the hospital with empty arms. Anything that is sincere and heartfelt will probably be appreciated. I have made a blanket for the child, that matches a wall hanging (I made) for the bmom. A special christmas ornament would be appropriate too.
I hate to be a downer, but until she signs (after the birth) there is always a chance she'll change her mind. Be prepared for that too. Pack some things to pass time (books, crosswords etc..)
