I work in a school district that requires a 30 day notice of when you are possibly going to foster/adopt any child, and I was wondering if any of you have written a similar letter of intent in the past or did you just tell your boss. I'm not sure how to write the letter and am looking for help or input on what it should say.
Any advice is appreciated.
No experience but how can you give 30 days notice? when I fostered, I only had a couple of days at most for each placement.

I don't understand how it's your employers business. . . .
I would be tempted to interpret it as once you know it's TPR and that you are going to be able to adopt and have a finalization date, you give them notice.
My school district follows FMLA laws which allow foster parents the same treatment as adoption and natural birth parents for time off to bond with the child. But I need to write a letter according to their policy at least 30 days notice before Foster license. I'm hoping we get licensed soon. But am not sure how to tell my boss in a letter. I know he'll be excited for us, but I am not sure how to write it.
A search for "FMLA Request Letter to Employer" gave me this:

which I think could be edited to suit your needs.
