We have gone through that route, and have found that you really need to consider which path you will pursue (domestic infant, foster care, international) before selecting your home study agency. As an example, we selected an agency and when we found kids to adopt through foster care, the agency decided they didn't want to work with that particular state (outside of NC) and so they left us in a bind. Let me know which path you are taking, and I can recommend some companies that we found to be either helpful or not helpful.

We are looking at a AA/Biracial domestic/infant adoption. We have checked out a few private agencies locally that do homestudies only (no placements). Not sure if this is a good route to take. Should we consider an agency that does both (homestudy and placement). What are the advantages and disadvantages long-term? Please PM me with whatever info you have to share. I appreciate your input.
