This was the other article that I found for my daughter (first being Skye's)! We called it the "hold your baby first" article. My daughter was "hell-bent" on making an adoption plan and matching with a couple under agency pressure. This article told her to SLOW DOWN. The article convinced her to make a parenting plan instead of an adoption plan and to try to be a mom first. As she worked through the parenting plan, she realized that it was doable and the best option for her son. Thanks for sharing. I've book marked it now! Happy G'Ma

4. I wish I had known that society dislikes and fears birth parents.Ӕ Americans have extremely unrealistic views of birth parents, painting us as either sinners or saints. Among the general public, a woman considering adoption is applauded as being admirably unselfish in putting the needs of her child first. But once the mother actually surrenders her child, she is looked down upon. After all, who could give away their own flesh and blood?Ӕ This one the thing that rings so true for me. I wish I had known this. Not that I would have changed my mind but I wish I knew before placing my daughter. Its been the hardest thing about the adoption for me to deal with.It makes me mad when I hear others who don't know I am bmom talk about adoption like that. Before placing my daughter I never trusted other woman much and had mainly male friends but after the adoption hearing so many woman say, who could give away their own flesh and blood?Ӕ I really have no girlfriends.
