we went and had dd's portrait taken today. it's our first brush with studios and dd and so we chose to not pay a lot to see what happened. the woman was great and the photos came out well, even dd lasted thru three clothing changes. I'm just wondering whether others have had similar experiences with JCP or other "fast food" portraits (cheap and quick)?
We've used JCP and Sears. We actually love the Sears portrait studio...they are really nice and do a good job. We have also used the Picture People...what a rip off!!!!! The pics came out nice, but I don't want to have to rob a bank, kwim??
Glad JCP worked for you! Will you use them again?

We have had the best luck with JCP...pictures come out great and the prices are very reasonalble...
We use Target. Although, I specifically request one of the photographers when I make my appointment. With her, we always get great pictures and the kids have a blast. :)
Othertimes when I wasn't so picky, the kids did great, but they did things like not hang the back ground right and the shadows were bad. I only had 2 useable shots of our H's one-year-old pictures. (My favorite person was on vacation.) :(
We use a professional photographer for family pictures every couple of years, but do the quick and easy thing for those baby milestone and birthday shots.
Blessings,
Jenny
We had dd's one year portrait done at Penney's since I had a coupon for a free 8x10 and no sitting fee. I got a whole portrait package for around $8! The pictures turned out great and we have had so many compliments on the portrait we picked. I would definitely use them again.
I also use JC Penny's for our photos...though our first family photo I hired a photographer to come to our home and take pictures. These are my favorite because they don't look posed.

We SWEAR by JC Penney portraits. We get coupons for 3.99 sheets with no sitting fee. We LOVE the fact that you can choose whatever pose you want in whatever size as opposed to places like Walmart that make you buy the whole package in one pose.
For note: Munchkin had all of her first year portraits done at JC Penney as well. For anyone trying to do monthly portraits on a semi-budget, I would strongly recommend JC Penney. (Our store has two photographers and they are BOTH awesome.)
Actually, drop by this post on our family blog to see the most recent, wonderful pics. Anyone who can get a two month old to smile like that on cue is AWESOME:

we kinda liked the idea that they were everywhere, so that when we go visit bfamilies, we can pile into a single photo :D . i asked and she said the most she's photographed together is 18, lol.
glad so many have had good experiences with them.
jenna, he's so cute!
I used JCP for dd's Christmas/1YR photos with Ethnic Santa. The session was a little rushed because it was a weekend during the holidays and the appts. were pretty tightly scheduled. They didn't allow outfit changes. Santa played with dd out front before the session which made dd comfortable with him during the shoot. The pictures turned out great. I was able to get multiple poses of dd with Santa. I would use them again.
