Our forums admin has written this up for those of you who are interested in being able to send and receive private messages through the forums. Since our forums terms of use do not allow recommending names of professionals, agencies, etc., or links to sites containing commercial / retail resources, the private message (PM) function can be helpful:
Its a fairly straightforward process to adjust any of the settings on your account here on the forum.
First thing you must know is that ALL of the changes youҒll ever make to your settings will be done via the UserCP in the top tan navigational bar.
From the UserCP, you can do things like edit your signature, edit your profile information, adjust your options, change your avatar (the small picture that shows on your post) and even add a profile picture to your profile.
To turn on Private Messages ֖ click on UserCP then Edit Options. Once the page has loaded youll scroll to the second purple header called ғMessaging and Notification Ԗ here you can select your preferences on email, subscriptions and finally at the bottom, Private Messages.
To turn on Private Messages simply place a check mark in the box next to ֓Enable Private Messages Ԗ do this by clicking the box. You can then select how youd like to be notified of a new private message.
Once you've selected the changes, scroll to the bottom and click "Save Changes" and you're done.
(Note: most popup blockers do block the pop up of PMs, even if you click ғOk to open in new window.)

Hi Sandra,
Many forum members don't want their email addresses known, so private messaging is an internal way of communicating information that isn't allowed on the forum. For example, the forums don't allow open naming of agencies and professionals, don't allow links to retail sites, etc.
It is NOT necessary to do this - you are most welcome NOT to enable private messaging, especially since people can come to your blog and communicate that way.
Popup blockers are software things people sometimes add to their computer browsers to prevent little popup windows (ads, etc) from opening.
Hope this helps.
