We were asked to interview for a possible match. What should we expect? Has anyone been to an interview like this? I am only familiar with the "committee" process where the prospective adoptive family's worker presents them to the committee. I believe they are interviewing another family. Is there anything we need to do to prepare? This will be through Adams County.Thank you. Forgot to mention this is for an older child adoption.(SWAN)

I have been through two interviews- since they will already have a copy of your homestudy, mostly all questions will be answered already. They will be getting a feel for you and if you would be the right match for a child. Be prepared with questions you would like answered about the child. You will get a lot of information about him/her at that point.
Good luck! How old is the child?
Hi Best Wishes on your interview! Take some advice, not scaring you, but get all the information you can on your placement. How many placements in foster homes, behavior problems, types of therapy, types of resources for your placement in your area. Is the children on medication? Why did they leave their home? Types of abuse? Just some ideas!
I hope I didn't scare you!

Good Luck!! We interviewed in Lehigh county and it mostly consisted of them telling us about our DD and asking how we'd handle certain situations. It's not something you can really prepare for...just be yourselves! We did take in a scrapbook I'd made (lots of stickers and narrations about us). It was a good icebreaker and gave them a visual of our lives. Additionally, we were one of eight families being interviewed, so I made up a sheet with bullets of why I felt we'd be a good match for her (put a pic of our boys acting goofy on the top of it). I figured that if we were one of the first ones interviewed I wanted to stand out in their minds. It must have worked b/c at finalization some of the people who were at the interview attended and STILL remembered the scrapbook and "darling stickers" lol. Will be looking forward to hearing how it goes! :cheer:
